DIALOGUE BETWEEN PRUE AND MISS BRILL

Prue is sitting on a bench, smoking quietly and regardind around. Then Miss Brill arrives...

Miss Brill: may I sit?

Prue: sure, be my guest!

Miss Brill: you don't come here very often, do you?

Prue: How do you know that?

Miss Brill: 'cause I do come very single sunday and some others days a week

Prue: but I am a very busy woman

Miss Brill: Me too! But I cannot forgive myself not to come here, this place is very important to me

Prue: why? don't you have a job? a family to take care of?

Miss Brill: I used to... I was a famous actress so I never had family!... now I just act my own life

Prue: Hmmm... I see!

Mrs Brill : what about you? do you have a job?

Prue: yeah, well, now I work in a plant shop, but I don't really like that job...anyway! At least I have enough for paying the rent! (laughter)

Miss Brill: but, why are you doing something you hate?

Prue: 'cause I rather work in something I hate than living next to someone I hate!

Miss Brill: well, at least you have someone to hate, I have no one to feel anything about

Prue: How come! you are still young my dear, and life is very short to waste it thinking like that!

Miss Brill: Oh, Thank you! you are making me blush!

Prue: no, really! I suppose that a beautiful lady like you must have a lot of suitors!

Miss Brill: let´s be honest! for an old lady like me, life ends up on her own!

Prue: I understand it! I think I'm in the same way! I mean, I have children but we have a distanced relationship and I'm OK with that, actually I think we are all better like this

Miss Brill: Oh no! I envy you my dear! I come here to spend the time I wold to spend with a family I never wanted to have until now...

Prue: I think you are not understanding, I do am proud of having a family to take care of and who takes care of me, I love them... but I know they are OK where they are and same with me!

Miss Brill: I see

Prue: yeah! well, ma'am it was very nice to talk to you but I have a meeting with an old friend and I don't want to be late

Miss Brill: It's OK darling, and thank you for this great moment, I apreciate it!

Prue: Oh no! The pleasure is mine! but wait, I don't know your name!

Miss Brill: but you'll forget it anyway, let's leave it like that!

Prue: hope to see you again!

Miss Brill: me too darling, me too...
